Chalfont St Peter CC - Junior Section

Overview

We aim to promote cricket in the local community and help to develop the skills of young cricketers by offering regular coaching sessions at Chalfont Park during the season and winter training, all run by qualified ECB coaches in a safe environment (we are ECB Clubmark accredited and all coaches are CRB-checked).

Our objectives are to:

  1. to help each young player to grow in a challenging and supportive environment
  2. to support their progression through the junior age groups and into the senior teams
  3. to have fun

The Club enters sides in all of the Bucks Cricket Board County League and Knockout Cup Competitions from age groups Under 9 to Under 17. We are seeing increasing numbers of our players selected for the Bucks Pathway, especially at our younger age groups.

If you are able or interested in helping in any way, please make yourself known to the relevant manager or coach. All assistance will be very warmly welcomed.

We hope most of your initial questions will be answered on this website, but please contact Euan Spence or Andrew Timothy for more details.

To sign up, select Become a Member in the menu and navigate to the relevant form, or just click here for the Junior Registration Form. Payment can then be made by bank transfer using the details here

The Dynamos session for girls only is open to any girl, new to the game or otherwise, however girls are welcome to all junior sessions as stated above. Dynamos is specifically designed to bring new people to the game. It is centrally administered by the ECB so has a separate sign up process - any girls taking part in this and regular sessions receives a discount on club subs. We hope to run additional sessions and some matches for girls U11 and below following the Dynamos programme.

2022 also sees the launch of a women's team, open to adults and girls from U14 upwards. For further information, please contact Tanya Westney.

In order to improve space and coaching ratios, and improve the pathway to adult cricket, training for boys U14 and above has moved to Wednesday evenings to overlap with senior training. We will offer an optional organised "fun" game on Friday evenings for this group to maintain a Friday offering.
Subscriptions & Registration
Subscriptions for 2022 are:
School Year Reception to 3 (<=U8)   £67
School Year 4 (U9)   £95
School Year 5-12 (U10-U17)   £113

Second, third, etc children receive a £10 discount. So if you had children in Year 2, 4 and 6 the total would be £255 (67 + 95 + 113 - 20).

This covers 12 weeks of coaching sessions across the summer term and (for U9 and above) all junior matches. Any rained-off sessions are rescheduled into the summer holidays. We then optional additional "Phase 2" coaching for the remainder of the summer holidays and early September, at small additional cost.

The girls Dynamos programme is charged for separately (£50) as administered by the ECB. Girls signing up for this programme AND junior training receive a £25 discount from subs (in addition to any sibling discount).

Similarly any girls U14 and above signing up for both the Women's section and the junior section also receive a £25 discount.

If the subscription causes you severe financial difficulty please discuss this in confidence with your age group team manager.

The Subscription covers all junior matches.  Selection for a senior side will incur a reduced match fee. If the subscription is not paid, we will be unable to select your child for matches. The money provides the child with coaching and membership of the club, pays towards maintenance of the playing area, and the use of all equipment.

To register, please click on Become a member. It is essential we have a completed registration form for each child; a new form is required each year.  This allows the coach to know of any relevant medical conditions, provides emergency contact details, allows us to use videos to support coaching, and ensures that we have your permission for the child's participation.  For the safety of your child it is important that the club is informed of any medical condition or allergies that may be relevant should your child be involved in an accident at the club.

Equipment requirements
No child will be permitted to bat in either a match or coaching situation using a hard cricket ball without a helmet, abdominal box (boys), bat, pads and gloves.  No exemptions will be given.

The club can provide this equipment, but would recommend that each player has their own abdominal box and “pouch” pants (these have a pouch that holds the box in place) – boys are seldom happy to borrow these!

When representing the club whites are preferred but are not compulsory.  Club shirts are available for free (second hand) or subsidised purchase (new), thanks to our sponsor Yaldens DIY & Garden.

If you are in doubt over which size of equipment to buy for your child there is a useful guide for bats, pads and helmets etc HERE:
Junior representative matches
The club have teams entered in the Bucks league and cup competitions at the following ages:

U17 (Yr 12), U15 (Yr 10), U14 (Yr 9), U13 (Yr 8),
U12 (Yr 7), U11 (Yr 6), U10 (Yr 5) and U9 (Yr 4).
